Ukraine's Welfare State in the Context of Global Uncertainties

The book provides a comprehensive analysis of the current Ukrainian welfare system. It begins by examining the concept, models and main objectives of the welfare state, with a specific focus on post-communist models. The book presents a review of understanding the concept of social security and its constituent elements, which is extended to the future prospects of the welfare state. It subsequently examines the macroeconomic context, labour market, and external aid in Ukraine. Furthermore, it offers an analysis of income inequality and poverty, while also investigating in detail institutional features of Ukrainian social security. Finally, additional measures under martial law, support for internally displaced persons, and other social programmes intended to overcome poverty risks due to war are discussed.
