Loreta Vaicekauskienė is Associate Professor at the Centre for
Scandinavian Studies, Vilnius University, and Head of the Centre of
Sociolinguistics as well as senior researcher at the Research Institute
of the Lithuanian Language. She researches language planning and
standardization, language ideologies, social meanings of language
variation, language contacts, and global English. Among her recent works
are two edited books on language ideologies and change that came out in
2016 (co-edited with Nerijus Šepetys) and 2017. Loreta Vaicekauskienė
has been awarded a Fulbright research fellowship (2015); for her social
activism in the field of language awareness, she has received the
Gailiai Family Award (2014) and an award from the Polish Discussion Club
(2019).
